“OUR SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. “

Dear: Community Citizens & Business

In Medford  the unemployment rate has reached many families and over 80% of the children attending Jackson and Washington elementary schools now come from low income families. the census bureau report, released Tuesday,September 13th, says a record 46.2 million Americans are suffering the effects of a recession and loss of jobs. 1 in 6 Americans are now considered “poor “. Medford can be a community that cares for its residents and brings services to those in need . the venue community civic center, located in a 24,000 square foot building ,has the potential to offer needed services in a safe and central location. our vision is to be the home of educational, recreational and emergency services for our community.

The board of Directors of The venue is made up of energetic, forward-thinking, enthusiastic volunteers who believe that we can make a difference and change lives. together we have created our mission statement:

“To impact the lives of our youth and adults by providing educational programs that build character, instill life enhancing values and promote healthy choices through a variety of educational and sports activities.”

Our long range plans include providing a source of food for families, tutoring, after school and summer activities for children, instruction in English and employment and planning for adults, musical and art instruction for students and entertainment for all ages- including concerts, dances, and movies.

Initially, our primary focus will be on the needs of the children- particularly in west medford. we have begun brainstorming with the principals of Jackson and Washington elementary schools and are working closely with other local nonprofit. the first program we have instigated for children is a structured boxing program which has proven to teach discipline and sportsmanship, build confidence and serve as a deterrent to aggressive behavior.

We are asking you to become involved in this important project by becoming a sponsor of our boxing program, by making a donation of cash or items,(a list of what we need appears on the next page) volunteering your time and talents, or assisting us in getting the word out throughout our valley and obtaining help from local businesses and residents.

Please Contact us for a breakdown of our “sponsor program” and what it gives to our center and to you, the sponsor. your donation will not only provide a character building activity for a youngster,  but it will give you or your business positive exposure in our community. I thank you for taking the time to consider this urgent request. your help is greatly appreciated
